He who commands the soil never goes hungry.

Women in the United States were granted the right to vote in August 1920. Nine years later the Three Village Garden Club was founded. It was an extraordinary collection of women who were passionate about gardening but also strove to improve the community by planting trees, removing unsightly billboards, and taking on the issues of poverty, unemployment, war, and conservation. They continually educated themselves and the public about the beauty and importance of nature. They promoted the education of local students with an interest in horticulture and the environment by providing scholarships to colleges and camps. They supported food banks and worked with Veterans. It was a dedicated, intelligent and fiercely loyal group who worked tirelessly toward these goals.

The heart of this club was, and still is, its members who work everyday to carry out these traditions and keep this organization thriving.

The object and mission of the Club shall be to promote knowledge of gardening and the art of floral and plant design, to encourage individual and civic attention to horticultural arts and sciences, to preserve the natural beauty of our community and to encourage the community’s aesthetic development and environmental awareness, and to maintain an Arboretum to benefit those who seek natural beauty.
